However their responsibilities do differ depending on the state they practice in, which we will talk about in the following segment. When starting their search for schools, many potential nursing students begin with those that are the closest to their houses or that are the least costly. Even though tuition and location are relevant points to consider, they are not the only qualifications that you should base your decision on. Other factors, such as if the schools are accredited or have high pass rates on the licensing exam are very important too. There are various other questions that you should ask potential schools before enrolling in a LPN or LVN training program that we will cover later in this article. What is an LPN?

Kenwood CA LPN welcoming patientLicensed Practical Nurses have many tasks that they carry out in the Kenwood CA healthcare facilities where they work. As their titles indicate, they are mandated to be licensed in all states, including California. Although they may be accountable for managing Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA), they themselves normally work under the supervision of either an RN or a doctor. The healthcare facilities where they work are numerous and assorted, such as hospitals, medical clinics, schools, and long-term care facilities. Virtually any place that you can encounter patients seeking medical assistance is their domain. Each state not only controls their licensing, but also what work activities an LPN can and can’t perform. So based on the state, their daily job activities may include:

    • Checking vital signs
    • Administering medications
    • Starting IV drips
    • Overseeing patients
    • Taking blood or urine samples
    • Maintaining patient records
    • Helping physicians or Registered nurses with procedures

In addition to their job duties being regulated by each state, the health facilities or other Kenwood CA healthcare providers where LPNs work can further limit their job duties within those parameters. In addition, they can practice in various specialties of nursing, which include long-term care, critical care, oncology and cardiology.

LPN and LVN Programs

Kenwood CA LPN holding babyThere are essentially two scholastic credentials offered that provide training to become an LPN near Kenwood CA. The one that can be concluded in the shortest period of time, typically about twelve months, is the certificate or diploma program. The NLNAC guarantees that the syllabus effectively prepares students to become Practical Nurses, and that most graduates pass the 50 state required NCLEX-PN licensing exam.
